WHAT THE PUBLIC THINK –SURVEY

Mr. TONY BLAIR- EX UK Prime Minister had an opinion on Intellectual Property.

Courtesy of the DTI, 2003 Innovation report. In his foreword to the DTI Innovation report dated December 2003, Mr.Blair states: "that the creativity and inventiveness of our people is our country's greatest asset and has always underpinned the UKs economic success..But in an increasingly global world, our ability to invent, design and manufacture goods and services that people want is more vital to our future prosperity than ever."..."Innovation, the exploitation of new ideas is absolutely essential" ..."Over the last six years the Government, has put the right foundations in place through a huge investment"............"and support for enterprise"

In August 2001, David and Nansi Mottram wrote to Mr. Blair regarding the imminent legalisation of registered design 2053070, without permission or reference to the Intellectual Property owners. A telephone call was received by Mr and Mrs Mottram from Mr. Blair - he would address the matter! More phone calls received from Mr. Blair - he would address the situation!

The Intellectual Property owners were  absolutely delighted that the then Prime Minister, Mr Blair applauded innovation and considerd that creativity and inventiveness to be the UK's greatest asset. The questions posed to Mr Blair in his premiership:

  1. What does The Prime Minister propose to do about the pirating of this IP by the UK Authorities and their contractually obligated and licenced vehicle registration plate manufacturers?
  2. How long do it take to address such a matter?  We' ve been waiting 9 years now.

THE MINISTERS WHO GOVERNED  ADDED THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT IP CRIME......

Pirates and bootleggers beware - First intellectual property crime strategy published
A blueprint to crackdown on the trade in fake goods was launched by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, when she was Industry Minister.

JACQUI SMITH, now EX Home Secretary (having resigned over Expenses scandal) , said:
"Pirates and bootleggers cheat consumers and place a drain on our economy. We cannot and we will not simply turn a blind eye to copyright and trade mark crime." "Intellectual property crime is not victimless. As well as cheating consumers, the trade in counterfeit goods costs UK companies billions of pounds and thousands of jobs every year. That is why we are working together with industry and law enforcement agencies to clamp down on this illegal trade."

Correspondence to Ms. Smith met with a deafening silence. Seems IP crime is OK if the government are the counterfeiters.

LORD SAINSBURY, EX Minister for Science and Innovation, said:

"I am greatly heartened by the speed with which the Patent Office has been able to pull together such a broad range of interests so quickly to deliver this important strategy. Clearly a common purpose is shared by the police, customs, trading standards and many brand owners to co-ordinate their efforts to best effect. This bodes well for our fight against IP crime."  "We want to provide in the UK the best possible conditions for business and our communities to innovate and grow. We don't want Intellectual Property crime to harm society either in lost jobs or poor quality products. And we are determined to stamp this out. The clear message to IP criminals is that the UK is no longer a safe environment for you. Our joint intelligence will lead to more surprise raids, in more locations, and we will take action against all those who are involved.

Correspondence here met with a deafening silence. OK to pirate if you're the government is the message.

And Mr. RON MARCHANT?   EX Chief Executive of The Patent Office in the UK has a thought too...

Mr. Ron Marchant was asked for his views on the collusion between the Patent Office and The Department of Transport in the theft of the registered design 2053070 - the response (18/03/04)......Given that the Patent Office can take no part in any proceedings for enforcement of your design, I am not able to comment on the specifics of your dispute.... and on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen (07/05/04) ref this theft and the false claims to Crown Copyright........we are not able to advise or influence applicants or third parties, whether they are private bodies or individuals, or public bodies such as government departments, on how they should act with regard to any specific registrations.....

  • The UK is not a safe place for IP criminals - are you certain about that Lord Sainsbury?
  • EX Minister Jacqui Smith warning IP piracy and bootleggers would not be tolerated in the UK - are you certain about that Ms. Smith?
  • The creativity and inventiveness of our people is our country?s greatest asset - really Mr. Blair?
  • I have ' no power to advise others ' whether or not government bodies, that they are breaking the law by their continuing piracy of registered design 2053070??- THAT WE DO KNOW - Mr. Ron Marchant the EX Chief Executive of the UK Patent Office. Supposedly working with law enforcement agencies to clamp down on this illegal trade. The comments serve to prove that the UK Patent Office is a fraud.

What is done about Intellectual Property crime by those empowered to have an effect upon this crime....NOTHING.

PROTECTION OF  'IP' IS A SHAMBOLIC FARCE. - THE UK PATENT OFFICE - THE MINISTERS and EX MINISTERS - A CASE OF DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO.
